Music Venues in Derby

Music Venues in Derby

From sell-out tours in packed stadiums to hidden gems in quirky bars, Derby offers the A-Z of music venues, hosting the likes of popular funk band The Red Hot Chili Peppers as well as aspiring locals. Here at Piano Lessons Derby, we deem it a truly inspirational experience for our students to go to such venues and view both their idols and a range of unheard-of acts. This influential experience will affect pianists in ways unknown and introduce them to new types of musical genre, while providing a fun and creative experience at the same time. Students may be able to envision themselves on that same stage, whether it be as a solo pianist or within a band.

Here are a mix of four venues we rate highly in Derby, in no particular order..

The Venue, Derby

The Venue surprises many with its deceivingly small appearance from the outside and contrasting large indoor space once inside the building. Consisting of two main rooms, which can be converted into one room by the movement of a sliding door, the large stage and bar are two additional features which attract the crowds to this venue. This space has been used to showcase such well-known acts as Frank Turner, Foals, Hadouken, The View, and many more, in years gone by. The Venue has a capacity of over 275, and a convenient car park adequate for 300 right by the door.

Located in the heart of the city, you can find The Venue at the following address: 47-49 Abbey Street, Derby, DE22 3SJ.

The Victoria Inn, Derby

The Victoria Inn is a prominent live music space and pub, located in Derby, and is capable of holding 150 audience members. This unique venue showcases the new, the old, the local and the national, and is run by Michael Sheenan Promotions. This company transported The Victoria Inn into the digital age, and promoted such acts as Snow Patrol, Kasabian, and The Subways in days gone by. After a five year break from running the venue, The Victoria Inn was re-opened in June 2011, instantly selling out on all performances across the weekend. Doubling up as a pub, fans have the opportunity to try a selection of ales, and dine at the venue, before seeing a gig.

The Victoria Inn is conveniently located right by the railway, a mere four minutes from the city centre by foot, at the following address: 12 Midland Place, Derby, DE1 2RR.

The Flower Pot Derby

The Flowerpot is a renowned venue and pub in Derby, famed for its wide-ranging selection of ales from all over the United Kingdom. This venue is capable of holding 250 fans on its premises, and is highly rated as one of the best medium-sized spaces to see live music in England. The Flower Pot hosts live music for free every Wednesday and Sunday, and holds the annual POFEST music and ale festival, which has previously showcased the likes of ELO. This venue is highly esteemed for the mixture of tribute bands and rock and blues artists that perform there every weekend.

You can find The Flowerpot at the following address: 25 King Street, Derby, DE1 3DZ.

Pride Park

Pride Park is the famous football grounds for Football League Championship team Derby County, and was opened by the queen in 1997, before an audience of 30,000. The all-seater stadium can hold up to 33,597 spectators. This is the 20th largest capacity in the UK, and makes it the perfect venue for the roaring crowds who come to see performances by such internationally famous acts as that of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rod Stewart.

Find this stadium at the following address: Pride Park Stadium, Derby, DE24 8XL.

Being taught by Mrs. Odari is a pleasure. In the past I used to hate playing the piano yet she has helped me to enjoy and understand it. She gives the right amount of work for each week; she really is a great teacher. - BK (Age 11)
